15th December 2009
The launch for Ben’s testimonial year saw 630 ladies join Ben and his team mates for a dazzling ‘Stars In Your Eyes’ event in the Premiership Stand at Welford Road.

The room looked fabulous, themed to ‘Fire & Ice’ and as the players were introduced into the room one by one to rapturous applause, it certainly became more fire than ice!!

As the players waited on the ladies (in between photographs and autographs), they were served a sumptuous dinner ready for the special entertainment. As Matthew ‘Kelly” Poole tried to keep some order in the room, the excitement level grew until at last it was time for the main event!

Matthew introduced our ‘stars’ and asked them to give a little bit of information about themselves and ‘who’ they were going to be that night.

The first act to emerge from the behind those doors was ‘Freddie Mercury’ aka George Chuter who set the standard for all who followed, including Aaron Mauger as Johnny Cash; Dan Hipkiss as Roy Orbison; Sam Vesty as Tom Jones; Geoff Parling as George Michael; Jordan Crane as Rod Stewart and finally Ben himself, who put in a hip-swivelling appearance as Elvis!!  It was over far too soon, as the ‘stars’ then all came out together for a fantastic finale that got the audience on their feet to join in ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’. As soon as the disco started the dancefloor filled and stayed like that until it was time to go – so a great time was had by all.

The whole performance was filmed on the night and our ‘Stars In Your Eyes’  DVD is now available to buy from our website www.benkay.co.uk

Date for your diary: 20th of May at Leicester Racecourse for our Ladies Dinner 2.
